The GHI Internship Program gives German and American students of history, political science, and library studies an opportunity to gain experience at a scholarly research institute. Interns assist individual research projects, work for the library, take part in the preparation and hosting of conferences, and help with our publications. The program is very flexible: the GHI tries to accommodate the interns' interests, abilities, and goals. A two-month minimum stay is required; a three months stay is preferred. The interns receive a small stipend from the GHI. Interns can also apply for an additional grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Applicants should hold a BA degree or equivalent qualification. Students interested in coming to Washington in 2016 are encouraged to submit their application by August 31, 2015 (extended deadline).

Applications should contain a cover letter, a CV, a letter of recommendation from a professor or academic advisor, and copies of university degrees/transcripts. You can apply either in English or German. Please send applications electronically in one (1) PDF file via email to Dr. Ines Prodöhl (prodoehl@ghi-dc.org). The letter of recommendation should be sent directly by your academic advisor or professor. For further information please contact Dr. Jan Jansen (jansen@ghi-dc.org).
